What we take on

Four kinds of work. The fee for each one is named in a letter, before we begin.

The return

Who it is for: A household or a company with a year to file.
What we do: We prepare the federal return and the California return. You read it before it is filed. If a figure is missing, we stop and ask. We do not guess it.
What you send: Last year’s return, the forms already in the folder, and the one thing you are unsure about.
What you get back: A return you have already read, and a short list of what is still open.

Who it is for: An owner whose books and return should tell the same story, and do not.
What we do: We keep the books month by month, so the return can be prepared from them. This is not payroll, and it is not a package for a lender.
What you send: The bank activity, the sales, and whatever record you are already keeping.
What you get back: Books that can be tied to the return, and a note when they cannot.

Who it is for: A notice on the desk, or a decision you need before you file.
What we do: We read the notice with you and say what it is asking. We do not answer it from a guess, and nothing goes back until you have read it.
What you send: The notice, every page, the year it names, and anything you have already sent back.
What you get back: A plain reading of the letter, the papers still missing, and the work written down before it begins.

Who it is for: Someone who wants the set-aside decided before the deadline, not after.
What we do: We write down what to set aside, and when. It is an estimate from the year you are having. It is not a promise of a refund.
What you send: What you expect to earn, what you have already paid in, and the date you are watching.
What you get back: One note: the amount, the date, and what would change it.

The year, and what is sitting on the desk. That is enough to begin.

How do we start?: You write. The year and the question are enough. We answer with the papers we need, and a short letter: the work and the fee.
Where is the fee named?: In that letter, before the work begins. It is not on this page. It depends on the year in front of us.
Do my originals stay with me?: Yes. You get a list. You send copies. Originals stay with you.
Do you file before I have read it?: No. You read the return before anything is filed. The same is true of a reply to a notice.
What happens with a notice?: You bring the letter. We read it with you and say what it is asking. If more work follows, it is written down first.
Do you work in Russian?: Yes. Use the language switch, or simply write in Russian.
